That orange beam of light is the sun pillar. The sun didn't make its appearance for another 5-10 mins or so.You can't see it that well in the pic but it extends up into into the sky like a pillar.
If you google "sun pillar" and click on images there are tons of pics that are better than mine. :) (stupid camera!)
